President's Message

Greetings fellow IMA members:

It's the start of our new fiscal year for the IMA Bellevue/Eastside Chapter. Your Chapter board has been busy all summer planning events so our members can earn CPEs, learn, socialize, and network.

You will notice several changes in our event format, schedule, and location.

• We moved our events across I-405 to the Coast Hotel. In addition, our Wednesday evening events will be 2-hour CPE events and will start a little earlier at 5:30 PM.
• A student lunch event is scheduled for October, so pass that along when you visit your local campus. More details will be made available soon.
• There will be several social events where we will not offer CPEs; members and guests will meet to socialize and network at a local restaurant.
• The BEST (Bellevue Education Seminar and Training) event was moved to November. It will be a 6-hour CPE event and take place Saturday, November 14, 2009. The 4-hour class at the BEST event will fulfill the 2-hour CMA Ethics requirement and the 4-hour CPA Ethics requirement. The Leadership & Ethics course will be followed by a 2-hour panel discussion with current and former CFO's and Controllers discussing the nature and responsibilities of those positions.
• In February, we will host the IMA Pacific Northwest Council educational and council board meeting event here in Bellevue.
• We will continue our partnership with ASWA (joint event in March) and Seattle IMA chapter.

We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming meetings. The Chapter Board is always open to your suggestions to make the Bellevue/Eastside Chapter the best it can be.

About Vic Vonsovic:
Vic Vonsovic joined The Boeing Company in 1985 and currently supports the Corporate Development organization. Corporate Development activities include mergers & acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures. Past positions include Cost Accounting, Financial Planning, Tax and Financial Accounting. Vic graduated from Seattle University with an Accounting degree and received a Master’s degree from Golden Gate University.

The FASB recently completed a short-term project focusing on the consolidation of variable interest entities by issuing Statement 167. The discussion will focus on some of the things you should know about this new standard and the possible impacts:

IMA Mt. Rainier Chapter Events
