Greetings fellow IMA members:
Happy New Year! In September? That's correct, it's the start of our new fiscal year for the IMA Bellevue/Eastside Chapter. Your Chapter board has been busy all summer planning events that will educate (and maybe even entertain) you. New Years always start with a resolution, and this fiscal new year will do the same. Please join me in resolving to take better care of yourself this year. Better care of your health, your relationships (business and personal), and your career. Can your membership in IMA help with achieving these? Attending our monthly meetings to get CPE will definitely help your career, and networking at the meetings supports establishing new business relationships. And your health? Reducing stress on the career side, by being better prepared for a changing world, will help your health as well.
As your Chapter President, I'll start the year with a presentation to help sharpen your interviewing skills. I'll cover the topic from both sides of the table, as you could find yourself on either side as interviewer or interviewee. This will definitely contribute to your career health.
In the following months, we are planning more joint meetings with ASWA and the Seattle IMA Chapter to broaden your networking opportunities. We'll also have a student night, so pass that along when you visit your local campus. And remember the IMA now requires a 2-hour Ethics class each year. We'll offer one in October (see the schedule). The final event in May will be very special -- the speaker will be an executive from the Seattle Mariners Finance Office, and then we'll attend a Mariners game together!
So please come to our meetings as part of your New Year resolution. We look forward to seeing you there, plus your board is always open to hearing your suggestions to make the Bellevue/Eastside Chapter the best it can be.
Happy New Year!
